It's on G St and 6 th Ave in Gaslamp, San Diego. Decor is kinda fancy side though the foods were not so fancy. (It's more like homie foods, I think.) I liked the outside seating to watch the scenery in the downtown. The staff were pretty laid back. They didn't have anyone but us on Sunday night, so we talked a lot.
- Gluttony Expedition -
Today's appetizer special - 3 appetizers on one dish.
Pakawra: It was a deep fried egg plant covered with a puffy batter. Light yogurt sauce was on the top of it. It was good.
Mantu: It was like a ravioli, topped with cheesy vegetable mix (green peas, corn and diced carrots). They lacked in flavors. Bland at best.
Aushak: Ground beef ravioli. It's kinda bland. Meh.
Kadu: Big cooked pumpkin with a yogurt sauce like Tazuki. It's sweet because of pumpkin itself. Interesting but meh.
Bread : Its outside was a bit harder than normal bread. I like to eat with chutney (citrusy&vinegary mint sauce like an Indian one).
Coconut rice: Not so flavorful. I make better one than that :p
- Conqueror's Deduction -
This is my first time for Afghan food. It seems like very homie foods and influenced by several cuisines. Interesting. I should try more meat dishes next time. Servers told me the lamb was good. I kinda picked vegetarian dishes this time ;(
